Onerahi Physiotherapy was established in 1990 by Physiotherapist Ricky Brijs-Blaak and her husband Alfons Brijs.. They purchased the area in the rear of the Onerahi Shopping Centre and Alfons built the practice.

Elspeth Sugrue, who has been working in the practice since 2009, took over the ownership of the practice in November 2016.

Payment Information

Payment is due at the end of each session unless prior arrangement. We accept cash, eftpos and payments by direct debit. Southern Cross Easy Claim available

 

 

 

 

Cancellations

As we have other clients that are wishing to see us also, we would please ask that you cancel your appointment before 1 PM on the working day before your appointment. If you fail to attend or cancel late then we reserve the right to charge a Late Cancellation/ No Show fee.

All patient information recorded by Onerahi Physiotherapy will be kept confidential. Under the Privacy Act you have the right of access to, and correction of, any personal information held by Onerahi Physiotherapy. 

As a health provider, we will take all reasonable actions to comply with the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights. Leaflets of the Code are available in the practice.

What is a Physiotherapist?

Physiotherapists are professionally qualified with either a Diploma in Physiotherapy (pre-1991), a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, or a qualification from overseas approved by the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand.

All physios practising in New Zealand are registered by the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and hold an Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

Physiotherapists specialize in injury diagnosis, injury treatment, exercise prescription, injury prevention, rehabilitation and many other areas of sport and health and fitness.

What do I need to bring?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant bring scan/MRI reports, and list of medication. You may wish to bring shorts and t-shirt.

How many visits will I need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment, the physiotherapist will discuss their treatment plan for the rehabilitation process.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Shorts and gowns are available.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral from a GP.

Treatment duration depends on your diagnosis, the severity of your impairments, your past medical history, and other factors.
